Ger Great!! 😊
Charles_I, Jul 2022

So happy I began my Ulaanbaatar trip with Bee & Soy. Truly lovely people that welcomed me into their home, told me about their community, about how they live & about the food they love. Bee met me in hotel reception as arranged, we took a ‘taxi’, a local bus, then a short walk backwards up a hill and arrived at their Ger. Had good conversation, cooked, ate with his family, & learnt about Mongolia. Thank you so much Bee & Soy

The BEST part of an already incredible country, Mongolia
Jan 2024 • Friends

This was by far the BEST time we had in Mongolia! Simply incredible! To be able to go to the Ger District and learn so much aboit Mongolian culture. Soy is a great cook. Bee truly loves what he does. We learned to cook traditional Mongolian food that we later saw in restaurants, they sang traditional Mongolian songs for us and brought tears to my eyes. And they even prepared a gift for us. I wish l could tell everyone to go to Mongolia.

Highly recommend! The host is a master of delivering local culture and traditions in food. The stories and the cooking experience were more than just the surface. The most amazing memory I made as a foodie traveler.

5 hours of Mongolia culture
Jeff_J, Oct 2023

Bee and his wife were cheerful and accommodating. This experience was exactly what we came to Mongolia for. It was 5 hours of local culture. Far more more than a cooking class, and you could tell our hosts enjoyed it as much as we did!! 5 stars!

Great experience, we learned not only cooking but also got great insights into the culture and way of life of Mongolians. We were timely picked up from the hotel and dropped off afterwards. Customised requests were catered for and time flew by making it a great experience.

Great cooking experience in a Traditional Ger
Sep 2023 • Solo

Had a wonderful experience learning to cook huuzhyur ( Mongolian fried pancakes ) with Bi and Soy. They were wonderful hosts and accommodated my vegetarian needs by making a vegetarian version with tofu as well as vegetable soup with fried bread. Before that we had tea with snacks of rhubarb jam, bread, dried cheese and Mongolian energy balls. Everything was made using as much local ingredients as possible. Bi has great knowledge of Mongolian culture and tradition and I learnt a lot about the way of Mongolian life. The food was fresh and delicious and I highly recommend this experience!

Too learn local culture through cooking
Yuanyue_B, Sept 2023
Bee and Soy are such wonderful host. They are not only teaching the traditional Mongolian cooking but also introducing many other aspects of the local culture and daily life. It’s one of the best tour I have ever been attending during my Mongolian trip so far. Highly recommended.

Traditional Hospitality

I wanted to learn how to create something Mongolian when I visited Ulaanbaatar for the first time. I found it in this traditional Ger cooking class. Bee and Soy are friendly, open, and I had a very pleasant time learning about culture and learning to cook. I was able to get a good handle on local foods and I encourage everyone to take this class if they are able.

Great hosts and authentic experience!
YuenSang_C

It was truly a local and authentic experience. My hosts Soy and Bee reached out to me to confirm details once I have booked and they were punctual on the day itself. I learnt to make local dishes from scratch and they were extremely patient with me. I was also able to see a part of town where many locals live as opposed to the touristy part in the main city centre. This tour offers valuable insight into the real ger life and
I would highly recommend this for those who are interested in the real local culture.

I learned a lot from Bee and Soy's detailed and caring hospitality and explanations! The steamed dumplings and noodles made in their cozy traditional Mongolian ger were really delicious. It's not easy to find lamb in Korea, so I don't know if I can make it the same way, but I'll definitely try the way Soy taught me. Bee has a good understanding of the Korean sentiment of Han and is one of the smartest and wisest people I have ever met. After class, we ate dumplings and noodles, and had a great time listening to Mongolian songs by Soy and Bee and playing traditional games.
May Soyi and Rain always be happy and healthy!

I really had a wonderful and extraordinary experience with Bee and Soy. They are so warm, wise & intelligent and taught me the traditional steamed dumpling and noodle soup systematically and in detail. Both 2 dishes were so good and I will try to make them my home. Bee told me many Mongolian tradition. After dinner, we played very interesting Mongolian traditional games with the sheep bones and Bee and Soy sang some Mongolian songs for me! It was very impressive that Bee knew some of Korean basic emotion.
Thank you very much Bee & Soy and Traveling spoon, I had a really enjoyed that class!

What a wonderful, extraordinary experience !

Bee and Soy made me feel so welcome in their home. I was grateful they could accommodate my vegetarian diet. Not only was the food delicious, but I learned so much about Mongolian culture and traditions. Bee also walked me around the neighborhood after lunch.
This was my favorite experience in Mongolia.

Cheerful Hosts and Delicious Lunch
BSansom_M

This was a wonderful experience. Be and Soy were delightful hosts. They were so unpretentious and hospitable, sharing their colorful and homey ger with us as if we were old friends. They cheerfully showed all the steps to making 2 traditional dishes from scratch, patiently allowing us to fumble along. Despite our amateurish assistance, the dishes turned out to be the best we've had.

Living organically in the 21st century

I had a great time visiting Bee & Soy in their traditional Mongolian house, ger and cook with them. Their ger is compact but, cleverly made; have a fridge, electric oven, Soy’s sawing machine and a sink with a cute contraption made from a cut up plastic bottle for hand washing. The stove sits in the center of the room and dried “horse poop” plus wood is used for fuel (some smoke but not smelly). They gather the horse poop themselves, they said.

Soy showed me how to hold buuz (steamed dumplings like gyoza). I learned a new one.

Their life style seems simple, yet economical and close to nature, very organic and wasting very little. It was an eye-opener for me. Wish them good luck for continuing to show their life style with people from all over the world.

Highly recommended

I had a fantastic evening with Bee and his family. He picked me up at my hotel and we travelled to the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar. The view from Bee’s Ger was great and it was interesting to cook and eat delicious Mongolian food. Bee spoke excellent English and was enthusiastic and entertaining. He also taught me how to play Mongolian games with the Ankle Bones. After dinner we headed back into Ulaanbaatar by bus which was interesting as I’d not used public transport in Ulaanbaatar until then.

Fantastic experience of traditional Mongolian life and cooking with friendly and welcoming hosts.

Bee met me in person and we travelled to his ger (tent home) to the north of UB city centre. There, he and his wife welcomed me into their beautiful ger and were enthusiastic to tell me all about Mongolian life and culture, to learn about my life and interests, and to share some cooking and food with me. We enjoyed homemade snacks and tea whilst chatting. Then I was shown how to make a traditional Mongolian "closed" soup, which we ate together once it was cooked (delicious!). Finally, I was shown how to make steamed dumplings and we made a large batch together; we ate some once they were cooked, and I was presented with a jar full to take with me for later. Bee accompanied me back to my accommodation in the city.

Very nice lunch and great time spent with local hosts
DrissAig, Nov 2019

Bee and Soye have been very welcoming hosts. The food was great, I am vegetarian and they adapted the meal for me. Bee picked me up at my hotel, we walked a bit in the center and he gave me a lot of information about the city (which was not supposed to be in the tour). Along the afternoon, Bee told me many stories about Mongolian culture and history. He was also very interested to know more about me. I very recommend this visit for people who want to me local people and eat good Mongolian food.
It was a great way to start my visit in the country.

Cooking Class

Had a great time prepping and cooking food with Be and Soyon. They couldn't have been better hosts. We made traditional Mongolian soup and dumplings. They tried to educate me on the history and culture of the Mongolian people. I learned so much and would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

Best thing I've done in UB!
Relax31017674743, Oct 2019
I came to make dumplings and left having made friends! Bege and Soyo's ger was warm and cosy on a cool night. We did make and eat dumplings but were sidetracked by discussions of nutrition, traditional methods of cooking, eating and cleaning up, changes in Mongolia over the last 30 years and much more. They were so accommodating of my vegetarian diet and about as interested in my way of life as I was of their's. An absolute highlight of my trip.
